The New Year

Well HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope everyone has had a good year thus far. I have had a good one and my 2009 was one that I will remember for many things. More importantly, for learning experiences. 2010 is the year I NEED to change who I am, in every sense of the word. That is a cliche', but a true one that I will stick to this year. Last year I made some big changes in my life: moving out of state to starting 2 new degrees post bachelor's degree. I, to say the least, have had my struggles with many things, but that is a main reason why I am using this year to bounce back and free myself of any and ALL excuses I have made in the past. I also have made personal choices to distance myself from things and people. If anyone gets offended by the things I say or do, believe me, it is not intentional. I have to do what makes ME happy, not what makes others happy. I have to be sane and take better care of myself and I can no longer worry about the little things. That includes peo...

T-3 DAYS AND COUNTING! CONT...

Back once again! Well I had two more topics to talk about but I didn't want to add them all to the same posting, so here goes! Sophie Foundation As some people know, Boris Kudjoe married his Soul Food: The Series cast mate Nicole Parker in 2005. Their first child is a girl named Sophie and their second child is a boy named Nicolas. They were on the cover of the Ebony June 2007 issue with Boris and they are the cutest kids ever! Nehoo, their daughter Sophie, has a condition called spinal bifida (which I'll put the wikipedia link that shows the pic of it at the end). She has had it since birth and it's a defect that affects the baby's spine. Nicole and Boris have started a foundation in their daughter's name called the Sophie Foundation, which gives them a chance to find a cure for their daughter as well as other children and adults living with this defect. Here is the wikipedia article that discusses it: Wikipedia Article And here is the link to the foundation, w...

T-3 DAYS AND COUNTING!

Hello to everyone reading this post! How are you today? Great! I am really enjoying myself today for some reason lol! IDK why I keep having these long breaks between posts. Oh well...moving on! A lot has transpired within the past two weeks. I'll keep it short and sweet, lol. I would like to touch on a few things, so here we go! Caster Semenya This story makes no sense to me. Caster is the South African female who won her GOLD medal in the Olympics in Berlin about a week or so ago. The doctors in her own country as well as in the US were questioning her gender in regards to their possibly being more male characteristics in her to run as a female. GIVE ME A BREAK!! The only reason y she may have an inkling of male tendencies is because she has muscle. That's due to the workout that she does in training for the Olympics. It's a shame that a Black woman can't even earn a medal (a GOLD on at that, the highest honor) without it being something wrong with her. Toda...

I've Been Gone For a Min...

...but I'm back with the Jump Off!, LOL! Hello to all readers! It has been a while, but I had something I wanted to share, as always! So... Here we go! Employment As I told everyone in my first "Official" post, I am not employed. I am not worried, however, because I know my Savior has something bigger and better for my life (sooner than later, those who know, know what I'm talking about!) I'm not going to preach to anyone since I don't know the extent of the readers' spiritual beliefs, but you know what I mean. :) Since my lack of work has begun, I have been reading the Classified section of the newspaper every Sunday, just to see if my luck would change. I have been reading some very interesting stats regarding employment and reading the advice given by industry professionals who have been there and know what to do. Here are some of the stats and advice I found and hopefully it can be of some help to others: 23% of people are unsatisfied with their ...

Reality...or Counterfeit?

Evening to all! Hope every one's having a good day/evening. Something came to me and I wanted to write about it so, here goes! Reality Shows As a avid television watcher (I should stop that habit or lessen it some), almost all the cable channels along with some local channels have sprung into the "reality TV" trend. I have to admit, there are some shows that have and continue to spark my interest ( the "Love" shows) but there are some topics that I think to myself " the station must have been desperate" or "who the hell cares about this?" For example, Megan from ROL2 has her show on VH1 (reality show central, lol) called "Megan Wants A Millionaire." Who cares? Lol. I want a Millionaire but I don't want to be on TV to get one. I am a private person and I couldn't see myself on TV for anything like that. Now if it was a competition to become the next big Radio star, I may consider it, lol! There is a new show starting ...

FINALLY!

I know I have been neglectful of my blog. I know I can't do this continuously if I want to start a following or just get enough people to read it. Sometimes, things do come up but other moments, I can be somewhat lazy. I will and have to do better. Since that's out of the way, here we go!! Scott Peterson Last week (when I wanted to actually write this blog, lol) I came across a news story that confused me a bit. I read the AOL stories and news links often and Scott Peterson's name came up. The article stated how his family are asking people to help them raise money for him to have another trial to win an appeal that can possibly show his innocence in the case and for him to get out sooner. Now I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, wasn't he the main and ONLY suspect that was charged with this murder? I saw the E! True Hollywood Story and I was very upset at the story and even more so the disturbing evidence that was found that lead to him. It wasn't too many ...
